The new android phone from Google, the Nexus s, is nipping at the iPhone 4’s heels, with cutting edge features on offer.
Probably the first thing you notice about this phone besides its gorgeous big screen and wonderfully light weight, sexy look, is that it comes with pre-installed Gingerbread Android 2.3, the first phone to run this incredibly fast version of Android to date. With a 1GHz Hummingbird processor and 16GB storage its one of the fastest phones out there.
It unfortunately has no memory card slot, which seems to be a new pattern with the latest phones, but with 16GB of storage that shouldn’t be a problem for most. And being able to connect to your PC like a flash drive, it makes transferring files much easier than having to use syncing software.
Sporting all the latest wants and needs like multi-tasking, WiFi, copy/paste and preloaded SIP it really brings the phone to the frontline. Although it seems that even without having to load a VoiP app to make calls over the net, the service doesn’t use Google’s own VoiP service so you will need to have an account with an available SIP provider.
It has a new contour display which is the first phone to launch with this feature. Although at first glance it’s not very noticeable, it does seem to make for a comfortable phone call. The background for the menu and taskbars are now black, while this might not appeal to everyone it has a classy look and also has battery saving commodities, which is important to anyone these days with an app packed phone.
For the all important question to techies out there, is it good for gaming? Let’s see…We have a vibrant 4 inch screen, a 1GHz processor and a special GPU that takes the brunt of 3D graphics off the main processor, combine this with the onboard gyroscope and we could just possibly have ourselves one of the best Android gaming phones out there. Better save some of that memory for games.
So it’s fast as lighting, sexy and classy, but packs a punch with the price. Overall it’s not really unlike anything else I’ve seen out there.
