Hi all, I am new to modding. I have been into it for along time but only recently(1 month) decided to get crackin on some modding. This is my first attempt on a Dell 2400. i started out by drawing the flames in photoshop. i scaled it to actual size after figuring out the dimensions it would be on the case. I took a 15 x 15 sheet of plexiglass and held it up to my lcd tv (being that the sheet was factory cut with 90 degree angles assured that my design would be perfectly aligned as i traced it with permanent marker. after it was traced to the sheet i used a small drill bit to make holes every half inch along the lines of my design. i then made a permanent marker dot through each of these holes onto the case. drilling the case might have made the cut easier but i chose to cut it straight out.
next was a paintjob which still needs another few coats and a clear, and i masked the eject button on the dvdr a little too wide as you can see in the pic. i also masked the lettering(hell) for paint which i may cut out...im not decided on that yet. also masked all the original decals for some odd reason:)
Behind the flames is a thin plexiplate with a pinkish color cellophane piece sandwiched on to it. the plexi is velcroed on for now for air flow from the led fan which is mounted to the plexi.
I replaced the power led with a blinking white led circuit that i built from scratch, the circuit is in a small project box mounted behind the front plate behind the dell cap. I replaced the hdd indicator led with a blue super bright. the wireless usb reciever was modded with a blue led that shines through the semi transparent caseing( not shown on the comp, will post pics later)
i had built a circuit that flashed three leds(u can see the holes still there ready to be filled) in sequence and was mounted under the drive bays but the circuit stopped working after awhile probably from using the wrong resistor, so i 86d it for now.
after seeing this should i put away my tools and not bother with my next comp which is a biohazard theme?;)
