PROJEKT: M.O.B. Incept date: Dec. 30, '07

Hey, thanks for stopping by. Yeah, that name sounds pretty rugged don't it? Well don't let it fool you, it stands for My Ole' Beater, lol. It's a case I bought a while back, like 2-3 years ago and up until I finished "001" a couple of months ago, it's all I had. The window was factory cut and the bezel used to be a door with some kind of Japanese transformer looking samurai thingamacharacter something or other. It was fun and was at times a conversation piece with the guests, but once I started coming around here I began to see it more as an eye sore. I had already done some work but today did a couple more things, so I'll get everyone up to snuff. So come on you wild Modsterz, check it out.

Image
Yup, my ole' beater. Not much to look at, pretty lights, things that go whirrrr. Cool. I thought I had a pic of the bezel somewhere, I know I do. I'll try to find it and get it posted.

Image
This will be my third mod and unlike the first two, I'm not going to dress it up in the rear as much. However, the rear like the interior will be polished to a high-gloss with some Mother's polish. I did a little on the mobo tray already and it shines up real nice. I was impressed. It's going to take mucho elbow grease, but when it's done it's gonna look, dare I say, "Bad Ass!". :D I'm chopping out the blowhole today.

Image
I ripped the door I was talking about clear off and began evercoating the hinges and all of the recessed areas to get a flat canvas to work with, all the green stuff's fiberglass. I shaped the front intake vent like that to give it a meaner look. If you look dead on at the bezel it almost looks like an angry face. Eyes, nostrils and soon eyebrows. I'll be cutting those in soon. I also cut the holes for the power/reset vandal switches.

Image
In keeping with the design of the case, I decided to open up the top and somewhat mimic the pattern that was factory cut on the side. It's a fair matchup and I've yet to decide whether to use translucent or transparent acrylic. I'm not sure if I want it to be a window or not. An 80mm fan will be mounted as well and ample space has been left for handles.

Image
This is the right panel that I've released from it's bonds of boringness. I decided to get a little artsy and decided to cut some sort of pattern relative to the shapes throughout the case. This will definately have translucent acrylic as I want to hide the wiring within the case. I also decided to cut the door "handle" partly and create a vent as well as a better grip. What I'm going to do there is to "U-channel" it and place modders mesh behind it. I'm kind of getting the idea of an air intake if you will. I dunno, look on.

Image
Before I got into the pain in the rear above, there was another pain in the rear I've been thinking about for a while.........bending the modders mesh for the front intake vent. It looks cool so far, but I'm nowhere near finished as I have lots to keep bending.

Image
And as you can see the bezel's just a bit concave. I cut the darn thing and totally forgot, so now this modder's mesh is probably going to be more of a prototype than the one that goes in for good with all the chop-chop-choppin' and bend-bend-bending I have to do. YAY!!!!

Image
Well, after having a meshache for little over an hour, I grabbed my handy dandy rotary tool and went to town. Sparks, metal dust, burnin' T-shirt, 2 inch long ash, YEEHA, that was fun!!!! Best of all, the cuts turned out just like I wanted. A little bit of filing and this piece is ready for paint come Spring. I also wanted to get a look at how the MNPCTECH Billet Machined Handles that were donated by Bill for PROJEKT: Furnace would look on this rig. If I use them, they'll either get a blast of Metalcast or stay as they are. This rig definately would need the newer model handles though.

Image
I'm still pondering color or even medium schemes. I have a couple funky ideas in my head so far. The first is metalcasting all the polished aluminum once I'm done, either purple or blue with the case painted bright yellow. The second is going with either straight copper or copper diamond plate vinyl that's accented with chrome. Just a couple ideas bouncing around.

So, this is the third Mod-Zoo case mod in production. I have a long jaunt ahead of me, but sharing it with you guys makes it worthwhile. Enjoy all and if you guys have some input, put it in there, I'd like to know what yous think. See ya soon.

I love the panel designs. The bezel has a cool industrial vibe going on.

I'm betting will be your best project yet Mani :thumleft:

I like the front intake you did. And the overall look of the case, even though the side panel looks VERY premod (makes sense i guess  )

The bezel doesnt look very sturdy the way its cut at the bottom

As far as paint scheme goes, I'm swaying towards a bright yellow, canary yellow maybe? All the stuff I'll be polishing will be painted Metalcast purple. Not a solid decision on this scheme yet, this is more like another option. Besides, I've got a long way to that stage still. Heh, it may change.

Yeah Ric, I was shooting for a recessed look and yes it isn't very sturdy at all, but with the modder's mesh in place, it's sturdier than ever before. I've yet to finish bending that freegin' thing though. Bezel's, always MUCHO fun! :headbang:
